DaVinci Resolve 18 Beta 2 Features

The update adds support for the new object mask capability in magic mask. Users will be able to recognize and track the movement of thousands of unique objects when using the object mask tool. The DaVinci Neural Engine also intuitively isolates elements like animals, vehicles, people and food for advanced secondary grading and effects application in DaVinci Resolve Studio.

Additionally, DaVinci Resolve Studio users will experience improved Dolby Atmos immersive mixing, including binaural monitoring. This capability means a Dolby 7.1.4 mix can now be rendered to playback in a pair of headphones and maintain the immersive sound experience from just two audio channels. The update also adds native support for Dolby Atmos production for Linux and Apple M1 Macs and the ability to render Dolby Vision compatible H.265 clips on Intel Macs and Windows computers.

The purple proxy indicator status now refreshes reliably each time you switch timelines. This simplifies the process and allows you to quickly and easily identify proxies. You’ll also experience improved system stability when zooming out on a timeline with markers.

The final announced feature of the update is improved performance with Intel HD and Ultra HD graphics systems. There is also a more reliable application of sizing presets on clips without grades.

DaVinci Resolve 18 Beta 2 is available now for free from Blackmagic Design.
